New German business integrity law

highlights the value of compliance programmes

The new ‘Law to Strengthen Integrity in the Economy’ is a landmark for corporate compliance in Germany.

Germany’s Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection (BMJV) identified several gaps in the existing Administrative Offences Law (OWiG) as the reason for bringing in the new legislation.

In this article we describe the new provisions in the Law to Strengthen Integrity in the economy, such as:

       >  Introduction of company crimes.
       >  Increase to the upper limit of monetary sanctions.
More options and flexibility in imposing sanctions.
       >  Consideration of compliance programmes.
       >  Internal investigations conducted by the company.
       >  Foreign elements.

Download our article and find out more how should companies prepare for the implementation of the new Act and how can implement a successful compliance system.
